L.A. Adventure

This year our summer vacation found us in L.A. I was not excited because L.A. does nothing for my driving anxiety, but after many prayers for safety we were off. Since we were going to L.A. our first stop of course had to be the Staples Center. We programmed the GPS and it took us straight through L.A. with all of its traffic. We did not realize beforehand that the X Games were there so that was a surprise. I am glad Prince was finally able to see the Staples center. We walked around for a little bit, and the kids loved seeing where "Kobe lives". Then we were off to our hotel.

After we got settled into our hotel we headed out to Redondo beach. We ate a cute diner called Ruby's. There was an classic car show going on outside, and it was a really fun atmosphere. After dinner the kids were so excited to see the ocean, we headed for the pier. They had a little boardwalk with a fun little arcade. The kids loved the little carousel and I took Samarrah on the Tilt-O-Whirl for the first time. I am definitely not as young as I used to be I wanted to hurl. It was a gorgeous night, the kids loved seeing all of the crabs they had that were for sale.

Saturday morning we got ready for the beach. It was really cold and foggy, but we ended up driving around for a few hours so by the time we got to the beach the sun was out but it was still chilly. The kids were not very into the beach this year, but that did not keep me and Prince from having fun. We went to Manhattan Beach, it was really pretty.

After our beach adventure we went home changed our clothes and went out to Chilis, we had to wait for a bit so the kids ran up and down the handicap ramp while we had a mini photoshoot. After dinner we went back to the hotel and enjoyed hanging out together. The kids love staying in hotels. This one was an extended stay hotel, but very small. We had a kitchen, but room for the kids to sleep was lacking so Ayo slept under the table and Samarrah slept with half off her body in the closet. The kids thought it was so cool.

On Sunday before we came home we stopped at the LA temple. It was huge, and beautiful. We had never been before, and thought it was gorgeous. THe kids had a great time exploring the grounds, and we were able to reinforce some of the things they already know about the temple. It was a great way to end our vacation.

After a great trip we were all rally tired, but so happy for the memories we made! It was great to be together!

The things we did not know.

The other day we pulled out the wedding album and we were all commenting on how young we looked. On your wedding day, your future seems bright, you feel unstoppable as a couple.

On our wedding day, our future looked like many things, an adventure in Hawaii, hopefully children, love, joy, happiness. We knew there would be tough times,

but I wonder if we knew the end from the beginning would we have gone running and screaming in the opposite direction....I am sure glad that we didn't. There has been trial and heartbreak and sometimes life has just plain stunk, but I am so glad we did not run away. That we had so much faith on that day!

4th of July!

Better late than never had turned into my blogging motto. I had an unfortunate accident on the 3rd. I sat on some scissors and had quite the puncture wound through my hookus. We called a trusty EMT friend and after I vehemently said no to stitches, he used tape and taped the hole back together, so needless to say I laid on my side for about 24 hours so that it would heal enough that it would not pop back open if I moved. I did not hurt as bad as I thought being stabbed in the butt would :) Luckily I was raring to go to fireworks on the 4th. We headed out to Boulder City for a fantastic fireworks show. It was one of the best I have ever seen!

Since the 4th was on a Sunday I had to make sure the kids looked patriotic. I made Samarrah a little tulle skirt, and made Ayo a "big boy" tie that ties just like his daddies. They looked so cute and festive, and Sammarah came home and bore her testimony to me, something she learned while watching people at church...she is to precious.

We had a great time with friends in Boulder City.

Ayo rocking his Aunties blue hair!

Samarrah almost burned a hole straight through her skirt with a sparkler, I had a mild coronary.

The 4th of July is definitely one of my favorite holidays. I LOVE this country and all of the freedoms we have, and am so grateful for all of those who fight to keep it that way.

Birthday boy!

Our baby boy turned three a few weeks ago. I cannot believe he is 3. Time flies by so fast. He is funny, witty, rambunctious, and full of joy. He is such a little boy sometimes bouncing off the walls. He woke up a few days after his birthday and did not want to wear diapers anymore, and has done quite well since. We had a little party for him on his birthday. I made him a train cake, his only request was a choo-choo birthday.

I made him a car holder, it folds up into the perfect travel size.

His Daddy got him a super cute Handy Manny shirt

Auntie Melany got him a baseball mitt and ball that he LOVES.

His sister got him a dump truck, he loves it because it makes awesome noises.

every birthday Auntie Alyson gets the kids a book, I think it is a great tradition. This book is nursery rhymes twisted, all the rhymes are about cars and trucks.

I made him a rocking birthday shirt.

We are so proud of who you are and the joy you bring to our family. We love you Ayo!

My beautiful sisters got him a Lakers Basketball, they definitely hit the jackpot with this gift.
